Carla is a Family Nurse Practitioner. Carla has been in the nursing field for over 20 years. She is board certified by the American Nurses Credentialing Center as a Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP).
Carla heard our cry for help with serving our clients medication needs and has stepped in to help. She meets with our clients in person in Marion and virtually.
Out of necessity, while working in an FQHC as an FNP, her experienced has grown more specialized to working in mental health treatment. She has experience in working in a variety of settings including outpatient office, assisted living facilities, residential facilities, and long-term care facilities. She was able to utilize this experience during the COVID-19 pandemic in the urgent care setting, the COVID-19 Hotline for the state of Indiana, and the National COVID-19 Vaccine Hotline, by managing teams of medical professionals helping others through difficult situations.
Most recently, she has had a sole focus on managing psychiatric patients in a variety of institutional and home settings. After learning of a large number of individuals with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (IDD) losing their psychiatric care providers, she decided to step in and help. Due to her own personal experience with managing mental illness in a child with IDD, she made the decision to intentionally serve this population. IDD patients are complex and have a unique set of needs in their healthcare. It affects not just their mental health but also their physical health and a team approach is essential.
